The port of mod for new minecraft versions is well good but for now it's not available. so for the latest version it is available for is 1.12.2 you should probably download it you will like it. Some features from 1.7.10 release are missing like robot and builders so if you want to use them you should download that version. it is not available for latest minecraft versions for now.

Pipes:-

Major feature of buildcraft is pipes. pipes transfer mechanical energy, fluids and items between inventories and machines. there are many unique pipes with different features including wooden, sandstone, emerald, diamond, gold, iron.

It have many more features but i wont ruin your experience so you should play it by yourself.
